UNCASVILLE, Conn., Sept. 13 (AP) -- Barbara Turner scored all 13 of her points in the fourth quarter as the Connecticut Sun ended their regular season with an 87-81 win over the Washington Mystics on Saturday.

The Sun (21-13), who are the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, will open up the playoffs in New York on Thursday.

Erin Phillips led Connecticut with 18 points and Tamika Whitmore scored all 13 of her points in the second half. Kerri Gardin added 12 points, and Tamika Raymond had a season-high 11.

"I just kind of waited until it was my time to find a rhythm,'' Turner said. "Early on, when I got in at the end of the third quarter, things were flowing well for other people so I was just trying to make different plays or do different things. In the fourth quarter, it was my time to step up and make shots.''

Monique Currie led Washington (10-24) with 23 points. Alana Beard had 16 before fouling out, while Crystal Langhorne and Tasha Humphrey had 15 points each.

Washington ended the season with eight straight losses.

"I thought we played well in spurts,'' Washington coach Jessie Kenlaw said. "I thought the difference down the stretch was fouls, missed lay-ups and it bit us in the butt again.''

Connecticut played without starting guard Lindsay Whalen and starting forward Asjha Jones, who were nursing minor injuries. Both are expected to be ready for the playoffs next week.

"That was kind of a fun game. Got to play a lot of people. I thought as the game went along, we got better,'' Connecticut coach Mike Thibault said. "I tried to mix and match some groups. We had one bad offensive quarter. Once we got going, I tried to let groups play together for a while so they could get a rhythm. instead of subbing in and out. It was nice to see Danielle (Page) score a couple of buckets.''
