The Liberty partnered with Power 105.1, Choose Respect, Day One, and other sponsors to host a clinic to educate teens and adolescents about intimate partner abuse and the law.
Power 105.1 radio personality Déjà Vu joined Ashley Battle and Kelly Schumacherfor the event and the 83-degree temperature was forgotten once the players took the court and participants were offered some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
Battle and Schumacher led the teens in a series of shooting and free throw clinics and, at the end of the afternoon, the players presented two contest winners with basketballs, autographed by the entire New York Liberty team.
As a follow-up to the event, Day One and the Liberty hosted 250 children in a “Choose Respect” section at the Wednesday, June 21st game against the Washington Mystics. The kids received goodie bags filled with Liberty and Choose Respect gift items.
