Within four days, NBA Cares and KaBOOM! built 10 playgrounds in the region that was so devestated by the hurricane. As a native of New Orleans, Farris was eager to do her part to help. She was joined by such NBA legends as Bob Lanier and Willis Reed, as well as current players like Lawrence Roberts of the Memphis Grizzlies and Ronnie Brewer of the Utah Jazz.
This was not the first time Farris has stepped up to help the hurricane-torn area. Last year, when Farris was playing with the Detroit Shock, she also jumped at the chance to help out. Last September, shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf, Farris joined other Detroit representatives in delivering supplies to the region.
Farris' demonstration of generosity is a perfect example of the Liberty and WNBA's commitment to the communities we live and play in.
