Phoenix Selects Plenette Pierson in WNBA Draft 2003
The Mercury selected Plenette Pierson out of Texas Tech with the fourth pick in tthe WNBA Draft 2003. The 6-2 forward/center averaged 17.8 points and was named All-Big 12 First Team in 2003. The Mercury also selected 6-4 guard Petra Ujhelyi out of South Carolina with the 16th pick, 5-8 guard
Telisha Quarles out of Virginia with the 31st pick and guard
Marion Jones with the 33rd pick.

    Brown and Williams Acquired
    The Phoenix Mercury have acquired veteran guard Edwina Brown and second-year forward Lenae Williams from the Detroit Shock in exchange for Petra Ujhelyi and Telisha Quarles, the Mercury's second and third round draft picks in the 2003 WNBA Draft. The two will add experience, athleticism and scoring.

    Mercury Select Tamicha Jackson in Dispersal Draft
    The Mercury picked 5-6 guard Tamicha Jackson in Thursday's Dispersal Draft. Jackson averaged 9.8 points and 3.0 assists for the Portland Fire last season.
