The Warm up!
Monarchs vs. Silver Stars

Sacramento at San Antonio - 6 p.m. at AT&T Center - GAME THREE!
Watch it on NBA TV, Hear it on Sports 1140 KHTK

1) The Monarchs (1-1) tip-off with the Silver Stars (1-1) in the deciding game of their first-round matchup in the 2007 WNBA Playoffs.

2) The Monarchs forced 23 turnovers Saturday, but the Silver Stars were able to overcome their carelessness with the ball by shooting a combined 51 percent from the field and three-point range. Despite the strong shooting, the Silver Stars leading scorer off the bench, Shanna Crossley has totaled just 12 points in the series. Crossley is shooting a combined 32 percent from the field and downtown in the playoffs.

3) The Monarchs look to break the home court advantage streak that is on the line. Both teams have won three games this season on their respective home courts.

4) The Monarchs were led by Rebekkah Brunson and Kristin Haynie in game two. The duo were the only Monarchs players to score in double figures, 18 and 15 respectively. Haynie's output was not only a playoff-career-high, but an all-time WNBA career-high, which capped her previous high of 14 points. The eight rebounds Brunson corralled was also a Monarchs-high. The supremely talented rebounding team that the Monarchs usually demonstrate was absent Saturday morning, as they Monarchs were outrebounded 39-25. The Monarchs will prove that rebounding disparity an aberration with a win tonight.

5) The Monarchs went to the line a mere 15 times (equal to the Silver Stars) in Game Two. The Monarchs proved in Game One that a dedication to going to the bucket brought them free buckets as they made 28 of their 32 free throw attempts which doubled the output of the Silver Stars in that game.

Closing thought...
The Monarchs could have easily made an excuse for Saturday's loss and combined 37 percent shooting from the field and three-point range, by blaming it on the early (10 a.m.) tip-off. The Monarchs haven't used excuses all season and certainly won't blame the time. With that in mind, the Monarchs game tonight is at 6 p.m. which is much closer to their normal home-game time of 7 p.m. This veteran led team knows what is at stake and knows how to take care of business. If there was any team to have confidence in going into a decisive game, it would be the Monarchs, led by Yolanda Griffith and Ticha Penicheiro. This is what WNBA Playoffs are all about! Support your Monarchs tune into the game it's just a few hours away!

Worth noting: With a Monarchs victory tonight, tickets for the Monarchs second-round matchup with the Mercury will go on sale immediately after the win. Be a part of the Monarchs playoff excitement!
