You put up some nice stats playing for Cras Basket Taranto. Do you know what they were?
Brunson: "No, I don’t know. I never know my stats. I don’t really watch them too much. I did have a good year though, I played well. I hope all that can transfer to here and I start the season the same way I left it off there."
How is your left leg that suffered a stress fracture feeling?
Brunson: "It is feeling good, no problems from the leg."
What was your favorite food you had while in Italy?
Brunson: "It wasn't necessarily the food. The food was good, but it wasn’t amazing. It wasn't as spicy as I like it. But, I think I'm a coffee connoisseur now. I was a (coffee) freak before I left here, now I came back and it's not the same. Sorry to inform you guys."
Why is that?
Brunson: "I don’t know. It's just so much stronger there. It tastes really watered down here. Small cups and a big kick that is all you need. Now I need 10 (larges) to get what I need [laughs]."
Last year you had an awesome season. How do you go into this season making sure you continue your ascent?
Brunson: "Coming into the season I am going to try and grow from the strides I made last year and continue to get better. I think this team is going to count on me a little bit more than they did last year, so I am just going to try and take that role in stride. I am going to do everything I can to ensure we will win as many games as possible."
Did you work on any specific area of your game in Italy?
Brunson: "I definitely tried to get some shots up. I tried to work on my jumper a little bit, so when people try and guard me I can take some post players to the basket. And, just try not to get too far away from what I do best. I think in the beginning of last season I started to get away from that. When I got focused on the things I do best, I excelled and I ended up having a good season. So I just tried to stay focused on those things and carry them over."
How can you help Laura Harper develop?
Brunson: "I'm definitely going to pass on as little as I know [laughs]. I am definitely going to help her as much as I can. I think she is a good talent and we are all glad to have her here. We definitely need another post presence with losing Yo. I think she is going to come in and fill that spot easily. I think DeMya and I are going to help her out as much as possible."
Being from DC, are you a Washington Wizards fan?
Brunson: "I am a Wizards fan! Unfortunately, they started talking trash too early about the Cavaliers and LeBron [laughs]. You can not talk trash about LeBron. He is going to come back and give you 50 points. Just respect the guy."
