Whittington was the Fever’s lone draft pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft…she was selected for her tough demeanor, and an all-around game with constant energy which drew comparisons with current Fever star Tamika Catchings…she averaged a double-double in each of her final two college seasons in one of the country’s most competitive conferences.

COLLEGE
2007-08: Whittington was selected first team All-ACC following a senior season in which she averaged 16.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 1.7 blocks per game…she is one of only three players in ACC history to compile 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 200 steals and 100 blocks in a career…among 31 candidates for the Naismith Player of the Year Trophy, she was arguably the most versatile player in the country and was the only player in Division I to compile at least 450 points, 300 rebounds, 70 steals and 40 blocks…she was named to the ACC's All-Defensive team…consistency was her trademark, compiling 27 double-figure scoring games (including a career-high 26 points four times) with a school-record 24 double-doubles…she also continued her ascent up the Wolfpack record book, finishing her career 14th all-time in scoring (1,493), second in rebounds (1,164), fifth in blocks (147) and fifth in steals (238)…her 398 rebounds in 2007-08 set a school single season record. 2006-07: Named third team All-ACC after averaging 10.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, she became the first Wolfpack player in 20 years to average a double-double...she notched 12 double-doubles, 18 double-figure scoring games and 19 double-digit rebounding totals...she led NC State in scoring, rebounding, steals, blocked shots and free throws...she was named to the Fresno All-Region team after averaging 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in three NCAA Tournament games...she led the way against Baylor with a career-high 23 points with 11 boards and three steals in an NCAA second-round overtime win...she was named to ACC All-Tournament first team after averaging 9.3 points and 12.0 rebounds in three games...she was voted MVP, MOP, Best Team Supporter (starter), Best Offensive Player and 110% Effort Award by her teammates. 2005-06: The team's leading rebounder (8.0 rpg, 248 total), she also led the team in free throw attempts (116) and in double doubles with five...she had her best game of season against UNC Greensboro, posting season highs of 21 points and 16 rebounds, with four steals and two blocks (also attempted a fast break dunk)...the Wolfpack's leading scorer three times, she also led the team in rebounding 12 times. 2004-05: Selected to the ACC All-Freshman team, she led the Wolfpack in free throws made (62) and attempted (99) and was the team’s leading producer off the bench with an average of 8.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg overall…she had 12 double figure scoring games, including a season-high 20 points against No. 8 North Carolina…she posted season-bests of 13 rebounds twice (vs. Florida State and North Carolina in back-to-back games)...she ranks among NC State’s all-time freshman leaders in seven categories - seventh in free throws made (62); seventh in free throw attempts (99); seventh in blocks (15); seventh in steals (39); 11th in rebounds (152); 14th in scoring average (8.4 ppg) and 14th in field goal attempts (217)...she was named ACC Rookie of the Week on January 24...she was selected NCAA Tournament Diet Coke Player of the Game against Middle Tennessee State after scoring a team-high 18 points.

Khadijah Ameenah Whittington is the daughter of Monsoor Mohammed (father) and Dalmer Whittington (mother)...she has three older brothers Marvin, Ibrahim and Rahman and one sister, Tameka...her nickname is “KD”...coming out of Roanoke's Woodrow Wilson High School, she was ranked No. 19 by Blue Star Index and No. 37 by All Sports...she lettered four years in basketball and one in volleyball...she averaged 16.7 ppg, 16.5 rpg, 6.0 spg, 5.0 apg, 3.0 bpg as a senior and led Wilson High School to Eastern District regular season and tournament titles...her team lost in the Group AA State Championship game, and finished the season 29-2...she tallied 28 points, 16 rebounds to lead Wilson to an Eastern Regional Finals victory over Hampton in 2004...she participated in the Nike All-America camp and played with the USA Youth Development Festival East Team that won the gold medal.
