The former Minnesota Lynx guard was traded to the Shock during the 2006 season and instantly proved to be a great aquisition for the already experienced team. While assisting Detroit to a second place regular season finish in 2006, the All-Decade player averaged 11.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds while starting all 34 regular season games.
Through eight postseason games, Smith is averaging 13.5 points, almost two points more than her regular season average, 3.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds. The 36 year old has also started every postseason game while playing 36.6 minutes per game.
Last week, the four-time All-Star averaged 15.3 points, 2.7 assists and 1.0 rebounds during the first three games of the 2006 WNBA Finals. Smith, who is the leagues all-time leader in three-pointers made, shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc in Wednesday's Game One to finish with 21 points. Smith scored 16 points and dished out three assists in Friday's Game Two victory.
Among overall league ranks, Smith ranked second in free throw percentage (91.2% ft) and minutes played (1,137) during the regular season. She also ranked fourth in three-pointers made (59) and three-pointers attempted (161). Among postseason ranks, the 5-11 guard ranks No. 11 in scoring (13.5 ppg) and No. 7 in assists (3.9 apg).
During her eight-year WNBA career, the former Ohio State University and ABL player has averaged 16.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. She has also shot an incredible 36.9% from three-point range in 252 regular season games..
