Auburn Hills – In a very close game that saw 13 lead changes, the starting five of the Detroit Shock wasn’t enough to hold off the Charlotte Sting. After an Elaine Powell three-pointer tied the game at 64-all with 3:41 remaining and a Ruth Riley free-throw gave Detroit a one point lead with 3:08 to left, an unconventional four-point play gave the Sting a 68-65 lead with 2:41 left in the game. Four out of five Shock starters scored in double figures and the bench was only able to add two points on one-for-nine shooting.
Charlotte’s Teana McKiver, who came off the bench, scored 15 points as Swin Cash and Elaine Powell led Detroit team with 16 points each. Cash recorded her eighth career double-double with game-highs in points and rebounds (10).
