Both teams shot poorly as neither could connect on more than 40 percent of their field goal attempts. With 6:06 to go in the game, the teams were tied at 49, but a das Neves’ three-pointer gave Detroit the lead for good.
The Shock scored 19 of their 36 second-half points from the free throw line including 13 of their last 15 points of the game. Tamika Whitmore led the Liberty with 14 points off the bench and Tari Phillips added eight points and eight rebounds for New York.
