Detroit Shock 79, Orlando Miracle 74

As WNBA records go, this was one of the more dubious as the Shock and Miracle combined for 60 personal fouls on the night in a game that last two hours and nine minutes. Sandy Brondello scored a game-high 23 points to help the Shock to its second win of the season, and Detroit’s bench outscored Orlando’s 31-10.

Taj McWilliams recorded a double-double (14 points, 13 rebounds) for the Miracle, who led by as many as 10 points midway through the second half. However, the Shock used a 14-3 run to take the lead with 7:37 to go in the game. After exchanging baskets for much of the remaining five minutes, Val Whiting nailed two free throws at the 2:36 mark to give the Shock the lead for good.
