Detroit made it four wins in a row behind 18 points from Cindy Brown and 17 points from Sandy Brondello as the Shock moved back over the .500 mark for the first time since June 28. The first half saw 14 lead changes and nine ties as the Starzz dominated the inside, outscoring Detroit 30-12 in the paint. The second half saw six more ties including a 64-64 bottleneck with 6:25 to go in the game after which the Shock went on a 15-3 run to take control of the game.
Detroit connected on 50 percent (6-of-12) of its three-pointers on the night, and scored 27 points off of 21 Utah miscues. Margo Dydek scored 22 points to pace the Starzz and Debbie Black just missed a point-assist double-double with 10 points and nine assists.
