October 4, 2006 - After a rough rookie season, Janel McCarville was looking towards her second season as a chance to improve and become a consistent contributor for the team. Things did not begin as exactly as she would have liked but as the season progressed, she continued to improve and become an important cog for the team.

  • April 11, 2006 - The Charlotte Sting have re-signed center Tammy Sutton-Brown and exercised the contract option for Kelly Mazzante, retaining the guard through the 2007 season.
    March 31, 2006 - The Charlotte Sting acquired guard Edwige Lawson from Houston on March 31 in exchange for the team's third round draft pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft.
    March 23, 2006 - Janel McCarville was selected by the Sting with the first overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft. With one season under her belt, McCarville stopped to chat on March 23 about looking forward to starting her second season in the Queen City and celebrating the Sting's 10th anniversary.
    March 15, 2006 - The Charlotte Sting made several roster moves as they re-signed center Summer Erb and guard Caity Matter and added Tasha Butts as a free agent.

  • March 12, 2006 - Helen Darling and Janel McCarville stopped by Robinson Middle School to cheer on the girls from Matthews Athletic Recreation Association and Porter Ridge Athletic Association as they participated in their youth basketball championship games.
    February 15, 2006 - Presbyterian Hospital, the Bobcats, the Sting and the Bobcats Charitable Foundation have recruited 36 fourth grade students for a new leadership development program called “Fit for Motion.”
    February 9, 2006 - It was a day to celebrate and for the students at Myers Park Elementary School to be recognized for all that they had achieved.
    February 8, 2006 - Asia Dozier of Columbia, SC was among five girls named to the 2005-06 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National team on January 31, selected from more than 750,000 members. She and her teammates were honored guests at the 55th NBA All-Star Game in Houston.
    December 21, 2005 - The Charlotte Sting will open their 10th anniversary season on Saturday, May 20, against the league's newest team, the Chicago Sky. The Sting will play all 17 of their home games at the new Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

  • December 19, 2005 - Sting Head Coach Muggsy Bogues was honored for his tremendous contributions to sports in the city of Charlotte as he was named one of inductees to the Greater Charlotte Sports Hall of Fame for 2006.
    November 16, 2005 - The WNBA's newest franchise, the Chicago Sky, have selected guard Jia Perkins from the Charlotte Sting in the 2005 Expansion Draft. Perkins averaged 5.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 15.5 minutes in 30 games for the Sting last season.
    On Tuesday, September 27 Sting Head Coach Muggsy Bogues joined Bobcats guard Raymond Felton and Bobcats Color Analyst Henry Williams in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the second stop of the Carolinas Caravan. The trio spent the day visiting fans around the city.
