Burse, Jackson to Miss Both Storm Games This Week

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm announced today that two of its starting five players will not be with the team on their road trip to Minnesota and Detroit on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.

Storm forward Lauren Jackson has returned to her native Australia to be with an ill family member. She is expected to return to Seattle on Friday and play in Saturday’s home game vs. Washington at KeyArena. Jackson is averaging 23.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.00 blocks per game in another MVP-caliber season. She was named MVP of the league in 2003.

Center Janell Burse is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair damaged ligaments in her left wrist on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and will miss both games due to continued pain in the wrist. She has been listed as day-to-day, and will be re-examined on Friday upon the team’s return to Seattle. Burse is averaging 8.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
