With the conclusion of the Seattle Storm's season, players will once again disperse to all corners of the globe for off-seasons in name only. Two players and Head Coach Anne Donovan are headed to Chile for the FIBA Americas Championship, which kicks off Sep. 26. Afterwards, almost everyone on the roster plans to play overseas, though some have yet to finalize their plans.

GUARD SUE BIRD

Bird will rejoin Spartak Moscow for a second straight season, where she'll team with Lauren Jackson and a host of other WNBA stars. For now, Bird's immediate plans are to visit some family before the Sep. 7 start of the U.S. Senior National Team's training camp and preparation for the FIBA Americas Championship. She'll also participate in more U.S. training during the fall as the team prepares for a probable spot in the 2008 Olympics.

CENTER JANELL BURSE

Burse says she hasn't decided yet on whether to play overseas, a decision that will be based on her rehabilitation from surgery on her left wrist. "Really depending on my wrist, how it's healing up. I've got a doctor's appointment in three weeks," said Burse. For now, she'll do her rehab in Houston when she is able to get the soft cast off her wrist. If she does play overseas, Burse plans to spend her third straight year with USK Praha in Prague, the Czech Republic.

FORWARD IZIANE CASTRO MARQUES

Castro Marques will immediately join the Brazilian National Team to prepare for the FIBA Americas Championship. She knows she is headed overseas, as usual, but hasn't yet settled on a team. "I'm going to play this off-season," she said, "but I have no idea where I'm going."

FORWARD SHYRA ELY

Yet to choose a destination overseas, Ely wants to play for a team that will allow her to work on her perimeter skills by playing small forward.

FORWARD KATIE GEARLDS

After completing her rookie season, Gearlds is headed overseas for the first time. She'll play in Slovakia for K Cero Kosice and is looking forward to the experience. "I had a few options, but I liked that it was in the Euroleague," explained Gearlds. "I'm in the same group as Sue and Lauren, so we'll be playing together a few times. Janel McCarville is my teammate, so I'm sure I have someone to really have my back over there. Hopefully she can set me some mean screens and I'll be able to knock down a few jumpers."

FORWARD LAUREN JACKSON

Unable to play in the WKBL this winter, Jackson will instead spend her off-season with Spartak Moscow after joining Bird's club for the playoff run last spring. Though the Australian National Team automatically qualified for the Olympics by winning the World Championships, the Opals will be in action this fall in preparation for Beijing. Australia is coming to America, with a pair of exhibitions schedule against the U.S. National Team.

GUARD BETTY LENNOX

The first order of business is for Lennox's various injuries, most notably a bone bruise in her left wrist, to get the benefit of the rest they missed out on during the WNBA season. She's headed back home to Kansas City. "I really need to get to home and see what home feels like and also see my family and spend a little time with them and try to find some time for my own downtime," Lennox said. She'll be headed overseas, but has yet to sign with a team. Traditionally, Lennox has preferred to start her off-season a couple of months late.

GUARD DONEEKA LEWIS

Lewis is headed to Italy, where she will play for San Raffaele.

FORWARD ASTOU NDIAYE-DIATTA

The mother of triplets, Ndiaye-Diatta has yet to decide where she will play this off-season.

CENTER WENDY PALMER

The lone Storm player who will not go overseas, Palmer takes on a very different role during her off-season, that of coach. This is her first year as an assistant at the University of Kentucky after moving up from Virginia Commonwealth University. "I am excited about the opportunity to work with UK’s talented coaching staff and to work in the Southeastern Conference at such a great school like Kentucky," Palmer said in the release announcing her hiring.

CENTER ASHLEY ROBINSON

Robinson is excited to get back to her native Texas - her hometown, she emphasized, is Grand Prairie, not nearby Dallas - and spend time with her family. She'll be a bridesmaid late next month when her older sister gets married. "I don't know if I'm going to Europe in October or January," Robinson said, "but I'll be going to Europe to play somewhere."

GUARD TANISHA WRIGHT

Wright is headed to her off-season home base of Charlotte, N.C. and will visit her native Pittsburgh to see family. Then she's headed to Israel for the second straight season, playing for Raanana Hertzeliya. "I've been there before and I liked it," she said, "so hopefully I'll enjoy it again."
